I always carry a water filtration system with me when I am in the outback.  In my pickup I have a Katadyn  with a soft flask which folds up to about the size of an apple.  When I am fishing I have a Lifestraw filter either in my Sims Sling or my pontoon boat.  If there is water available I can drink it.

Once during my mountain biking days I was riding with a group of friends.  It was a morning trip as I was committed to a wedding of a good friend that afternoon. We were riding the Siouxon Creek Trail and when it came to the end of the creek, we decided to follow the trail to the end as nobody in the group had done that.  One the way back everyone ran out of water.  A drainage ditch was following the road back to our rigs.  We stopped, so I got out my Katadyn rolled up in my hip pack and filtered water for the whole group.  I missed the wedding and I don't remember whose it was.  I think the lady was divorced shortly after the wedding.
